The Three Amigo/as! Even though summer is officially over for us teachers and students, as long as the weather holds out, we are going to be soaking up the great outdoors!
We took this little selfie on the back of Jeff's four wheeler. Notice who gets the drivers seat. John Thomas has had a summer full of firsts: four wheeling, jet skiing, tubing, boat driving, bee stinging, skiing, tee-teeing in the potty, and just general awesomeness!Look at this little surfer showing off his balancing skills! "Land ho!"
Whilst riding the four wheeler last weekend, we stumbled onto a whole mess of deer. Initially, John Thomas invited them to come ride with us, for which they declined with blank petrified stares. Then he decided he wanted to catch one. Go for it buddy!
As you no doubt know, he came back empty handed (thank goodness). But he got an A+ for effort!
We've also planted the second round of our garden this year. By we, I mean mostly Jeff. John Thomas loves to piddle in the garden, so we extended the season a few more months (hopefully).
It is so nice having such a manly man around take care of man-tasks! Besides tilling, mowing, staining...and an abundance of other wonderful demonstrations of love and support, Jeff caught a bird with his bare hands and saved it from a short life of suffering as it struggled to liberate itself from the garage. Don't tell him, but I think I might get Jeff a superhero cape for Christmas! Da-da-Da-Daaa! Love him :). But, John Thomas got to free it, so now he wants to catch all birds so that he can hold them and let them go. My response goes something like this: "Ummm....no, but do you want to go pick in the garden?!"
Had a back to school slumber party a couple weeks ago. LOTS OF FUN! I lucked out on the best singing team, so in spite of my lack of vocal skills, we won the sing off. I may or may not still be gloating over this :). Thanks Maggie for hosting! Thanks to the rest of the ladies for making it such a fun night!Speaking of girl friends, I forgot to mention on the last blog that I did something kinda cool a few weeks back. I was asked to speak at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church for their women's group and I said yes. After a month of prayer and preparation, it was time. Some of my dearest friends showed up to support me and I can never thank them enough. But thank you to Janiece, Andrea, Tamara, Sarah, Beth, Katie, Kelly, Maggie and, of course, Mrs. Viv! Nearly 70 women were there and no one booed me off the stage!
On a side note, I loved speaking to these women. In fact, if anyone needs a speaker for your church or group of folks, I would love to help you out. I think speaking in front of groups is a talent God has given me, and I love the challenge of trying to decipher His purpose for me in that capacity.
